If you’re new to Medicare, start 6-12 months before eligibility (your 65th birth month). If you’re already on Medicare, there are year-round opportunities to shop your plan, including the Annual Election Period from October 15-December 7.
For individual plans, most clients shop during the annual enrollment period of November 1-December 15. If you’ve had a life change like marriage, divorce, or loss of group coverage, you can enroll 60 days before or after that change.
